We are pleased to share that Ikaabe successfully organized a Social Media Management & Freelancing Workshop at Daru Salam University, with a special focus on IT students who are interested in exploring digital careers.
The workshop aimed to equip students with practical knowledge on how to manage social media professionally and how to get started with freelancing. Participants learned how social media can be used not just for communication, but as a powerful tool for business, branding, and income generation. They were also introduced to popular freelancing platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, and others—learning how to create strong profiles, find jobs, and deliver services online.
Throughout the session, students engaged in discussions, asked relevant questions, and gained insights into how they can turn their IT skills into real income opportunities. The training also emphasized personal branding, effective communication with clients, and how to position oneself in the global freelance market.
This workshop is part of Ikaabe’s broader mission to empower Somali youth with digital skills and prepare them for the changing job market. We believe that digital knowledge is a key driver of opportunity, especially for IT students who already have the technical foundation to succeed in online careers.
At Ikaabe, we believe that access to knowledge and practical skills is key to unlocking opportunities—especially for young people. That’s why we consistently organize trainings like this one, aimed at building digital capacity, encouraging innovation, and supporting economic growth within the community.
Our commitment goes beyond a single event. We continue to create learning spaces that empower students, graduates, and aspiring professionals to take control of their futures. By investing in education and digital skills, we hope to make a lasting impact on individuals and the wider society.
